Acupuncture is a time-tested healing practice that has been a cornerstone of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for centuries. It involves inserting fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body to stimulate energy flow, known as Qi (pronounced “chee”), through meridians. This treatment enhances circulation, reduces inflammation, alleviates pain, and restores balance to the body’s internal systems. Acupuncture is widely recognized for its effectiveness in treating chronic pain, stress, hormonal imbalances, digestive disorders, and many other health conditions. At Isha Holistic Healing Center, we utilize evidence-based acupuncture techniques to help our patients achieve optimal health and holistic well-being.

The researchers of acupuncture have discovered a large number of acupuncture points on the human body to treat different patient differently. The acupuncture needles are inserted into these points. These are very fine needles which are usually a few centimetres long. They are single-use, pre-sterilised needles and they are disposed immediately after use.
Acupuncture practitioners choose specific points to place the needles based on your condition. Several points may be used during a typical session, depending on the number of symptoms you have.
The needles may be inserted just under the skin, or deeper so they reach muscle. Once the needles are in place, they may be left in position for a length of time lasting from a few minutes up to around 30 minutes.
You may feel a tingling or a dull ache when the needles are inserted but you should not experience any significant pain. If you do, let your practitioner know straight away.
